HOW THE JOURNEY BEGAN...

The Old Testament begins with the Book of Genesis. Throughout this formative (foundational) book we continually see God recounting the family lines. From the family line of Adam through the family line of Joseph, we read the names of those who were a part of family. The word family is mentioned over 200 times throughout the old and new testament. Why is this? Right out of the gate the Spirit of the Lord is emphasizing the importance of family to the Godhead.

This is the desire of our King, to have a family and a family line. A bride for His Son and a family that will rule and reign with Him throughout eternity.

Why would the Father send His only Son to take ownership of the sins of all mankind? It was for the sake of the whole family. A true father owns the responsibility for his family, so our God has done the same for us. The love He has for His family is no less than the love shared between the Father, Son, and Spirit.

Love came into the world to redeem what man could not and to restore the family back to God; to draw back what was lost through sin. God’s divine order was the order of family. Even today, God is intentionally gathering His family together in order to see His original intent for mankind restored throughout the nations of the world.

Throughout the Bible we see entire families saved through the righteous act of one family member or an entire family judged through the sin of a single family member. Jesus came to make the sacrifice of perfect righteousness for the sake of the whole; that the whole family might be saved.

In this hour, we are seeing God moving throughout the nations with His longing to gather His family together in the unity Jesus prays for in John 17:20-25:

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one — I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”

Jesus desires the whole family to enjoy and partake of the unity that is shared within the Godhead. His desire is for us to be one, to be carriers of His glory, to walk in complete unity with Him and one another and to experience the love that they share. He wants us to know and be known by our good, good Father who loves us with an everlasting love.

When we come together, whether we know one another’s names or not, speak the same language or not or believe every detail of doctrine or not; we still come as one family through our salvation that has made us all children of God as well as through sharing the same love for our God.

Our spiritual DNA is the same and therefore we can say that we are family and truly experience unity with someone that we have never known before. It is a mystery and a miracle that is being repeated time and time again throughout the Earth.
