Come Up To Me: A Prophetic Call To Canada

by David Demian

At the beginning of this year, the Lord spoke clearly to my heart and said, “David you don’t have the authority you need for the next step. You must come closer to Me so that you can hear and feel My heart. If not, you will begin repeating yourself, making a form of the things you have already done, rather than walking in My revelation and My authority.”

His words touched me deeply and I have limited my travel and set aside my mornings as time with Him. I feel in my spirit we have entered a kairos moment when the Lord is issuing an urgent call to the body of Christ in Canada to come into a deeper intimacy with Him. Our past steps of obedience, humility and brokenness have positioned us before the King. And now He is calling us afresh to rest in His presence.

“Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me.
See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone.
Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come.” Song of Songs 2:10-12

Prophetically we can see that winter is past and the healing of the whole nation of Canada is in sight. And so the Lord is testing our hearts again. Not that we would strive or try to initiate anything. But that we would simply hunger and thirst after Him and make ourselves available to be ravished by His love.

Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth-
for your love is more delightful than wine.
Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes;
your name is like perfume poured out.
No wonder the maidens love you!
Take me away with you-let us hurry! Song of Songs 1:2-4

I believe the Lord has opened a window of opportunity to the church of Canada and beyond for the first six months of 2003. Although we are always exhorted to draw near to God, this is a specific call because the Lord wants to release a new level of instruction and authority to us. But this will not happen except through intimacy. So He is calling us as He did Moses:

“Come up to Me on the mountain and stay here and I will give you the tablets of stone, with the law and commands I have written for their instruction”. (Exodus 24:12)

I believe the Lord is laying another plumb line in Canada this year. While Moses waited in the presence of God for the Ten Commandments, the children of Israel grew restless and built a golden calf. We may no longer build objects of wood and metal, but we build “golden calves” in the forms, programs and activities we initiate without waiting for Him to speak. I believe that there is a separation coming this year between the company who will wait in intimacy and those who will continue on with their own ways of serving Him.

Our cry is that God will make His people willing in the day of His power and the number of the remnant who will respond to His call will please His heart. Then He will be able to release the level of authority that He has destined for such a time as this. And the world will begin recognize that the answer to our nation’s problems lies not in political decisions or men’s efforts but in the wisdom and counsel of the Lord, as embodied in the brokenness and humility of a united Church.

Then we will be one step closer to seeing the longing of our hearts fulfilled: His glory covering our nation and Canada being His dominion from sea to sea to sea. And it will be said of us:

“Canada fears the name of the Lord
And her rulers revere Your glory.” (Psalm 102:15)
