A Body Prepared for Him

Saturday evening we renewed our covenant with the Lord as a representation of the united body of Christ in the nation of Canada. David Mainse led us through a simple covenant

We make a solemn vow. We say we are yours, Lord Jesus Christ.  Now and forevermore, we belong to You.  We determine to take up our cross and follow You.

It’s time for Your promise, Lord, that we may be one as You and the Father are One.  And from this time forward, because of this covenant we make, we expect a new release of the Spirit of God and that the knowledge of the glory of God will cover our land like the waters cover the sea.

In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit AMEN!!

After this covenant, the youth were called forward as the aboriginal leaders led them in a special prayer of consecration as a generation to walk in purity and righteousness before the Lord.

The Scroll of Remembrance

During our national consecration and fast in June 2005, the Lord spoke to us about creating a scroll of remembrance in accordance with Malachi 3:16-18.  For weeks before the gathering, believers from all over Canada, and even other nations of the world, signed the scroll virtually on the Internet.  Thousands of names were transcribed into a book as a permanent memorial, which was then presented the Lord with this prayer:

“Father, as youth, Gen Xers, parents and grandparents, all age groups here, we offer ourselves to you.  And Father today before you, we bring that scroll of remembrance, with all the names inscribed in it as the beginning of a new page.  As You said in Malachi 3:16, then those who feared the Lord talked with each other and the Lord listened and heard.  A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence, concerning those who feared the Lord and honoured His name.

Crossing Over

One of the key things the Lord spoke to us was that the One Heart gathering was a time of crossing over as a nation from wilderness wandering into the Promised Land.  After we presented the scroll to the Lord, together as representing the church in the nation, we declared that we would cross over.  David Demian prayed:

Father tonight we ask for Your consecration.  Circumcise our hearts, oh Lord, as a new army of the Lord in Canada.  Circumcise our hearts.  And we choose to sprinkle the blood of Jesus, afresh and clean over us.  We cross out of Egypt into the Promised Land.  And Father we say “The land is ours”.

From then we began to prophetically march and sing O Canada in French and English!  French and English, black and white, Inuit, First Nations, Metis, one body and one army under One Head!

Welcoming the Lord

As we had marched as one army, now we were ready to welcome the Lord as the head and commander and chief of the army.  We raised a shout to the Lord that resonated we know, not just in the earth but in the heavens.  Immediately afterwards, Emile Abadir, a recognized prophetic voice, came forward with this short but powerful word:

I hear the voice from heaven like a thunderstorm saying, 'The ark of the covenant is no more taken away from the church of Canada. But now it's in the midst. And it will be a threat to the enemies of God.

As we praised the Lord in thankfulness for His goodness to us, a young leader from Scotland, named Ian Paget, stepped forward.  He explained that God had told him to come to Canada to witness our wedding.  But before he left, the Lord told him to pack with him a very special flag.  It was not the Scottish national flag, but a special flag that was illegal to fly unless the king was in residence.  “And so,” he said, “we can fly it now!” as he unfurled a massive flag as the whole gathering wildly cheered.

A Parade of the Nation

Led by 120 native drummers, the Parade of the Nation made its way from the Quebec Congress Centre to the Plains of Abraham on the last day of the Gathering.  With singing and dancing and declarations we marched through the streets of Quebec City, proclaiming our oneness as a body in the nation.   At the Plains, together we celebrated with many special dances and songs. From the many tribes and colours and languages that make up Canada, we proclaimed the Lordship of Jesus Christ over our nation!

God’s Sovereignty

For all who attended the One Heart gathering the one common theme of the whole four days was how God displayed over and over again His sovereignty.   From the powerful moments of repentance and reconciliation to times of deep intimate worship to wild abandoned rejoicing, the Lord led the gathering and sealed His purposes in the hearts of His people. He gave us a glimpse of His glory that truly led us a step closer to seeing Jesus’ prayer of John 17 answered: that we might be One that the world may believe.
