DAY 16 This is the last day of the Consecration call. Tomorrow we are coming together all over the nation to ‘declare’ some things. When I was thinking about this I wondered if you understood what that was all about. Here are some thoughts to help you understand. Instead of doing the “Just for Kids” tomorrow, it would be wonderful to have all the kids and families that participated in this consecration call to come to the regional meetings on the last day. You can click here to check out where there is a gathering close to you.
O.K. when we ‘declare’ things what does it mean? A simple answer would be that we give Jesus our voice to speak out the words of truth and blessing that He would want to say. We have talked about how when we say nasty things we agree with what Satan would say. When we speak words of blessing we agree with what God would say.
When you look up the word authority in an old dictionary you will find out that the word comes from the word author. So the idea behind authority is ‘author’, not as in writing but in making or creating. So a creator has authority in deciding the purpose of what he makes. In the beginning God said in Gen. 1:26 that He made man to rule or have authority over the earth. This was an assignment to govern or take care of the earth, starting with our families and ourselves and then going outwards to include the earth. Make sense? Then in Ps. 139 it talks about how God made you and how from before the time you were born he created you with a special destiny just for you.
Now God never gave Satan the authority on earth- Adam did. When Adam decided to submit to Satan instead of God, his authority was given a BIG set back. Ever since then Satan has tried to wreak havoc with Gods plans, in the world and in your life. Like setting loose a bull in a china shop.
But when Jesus died and rose again, what happened? Matt 28:16 Jesus said. “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth”…Jesus was proclaiming. “Satan doesn’t have it anymore. I took it back and I have all authority, not only in heaven but on earth as well.” Though Satan still fights, his doom is sure. Adam’s lost authority is now safe in Jesus’ hands.
But listen to this. In Jesus first decree about the church, He says that the kingdom of darkness would not prevail, or win over the kingdom of heaven. He then says that He would give His “keys” to lock or unlock gates to the church. (Matt 16:19) What are gates for? They keep things from going out, or they keep things locked away. So, Jesus is saying that now He has given the church, (not the building but you and me) the keys to lock up the things that flow from the kingdom of darkness and open up the things that would bring the kingdom of heaven on earth. (Matt. 28:18-20) God wants to help each of us to win over evil. He wants to help us take charge over our personal world every day and in every situation. He wants us to become active players in His war against evil.
The disciples believed this and turned their world upside down. The church is not meant to be hidden away, under a bushel, but is supposed to let their light shine so the darkness is chased away. If we have been set free from the kingdom of darkness, and given a higher authority in Jesus’ name, then we must use that authority over Satan’s works and power. Jesus asks us to give him our voice to speak out the words of truth and blessing that He would want to say. This is legislating God’s truth into the spiritual kingdom.
See politicians and government officials legislate through man-made laws. Those laws decide what happens in our nation. As sons and daughters of the King, we can legislate though words of truth and activities what God wants to see happen on earth. This is not in a political sense but spiritually, as God’s Kingdom is a spiritual Kingdom.
So let us together take a hold of these keys, and speak out the words of LIFE that God has given us as His sons and daughters.
You can practice for tomorrow by standing up and saying the following declarations.
We Exalt you God that you are Great and that you are good. We honor you as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Father we thank you for Jesus, and for ALL He did. Father we thank you that You have cut off from us every lying voice of the enemy and set us free. We declare that we believe all that you have said and that you do not change. Thank you God for giving us hope. Thank you that we can trust you and that we can rest in that fact. Today we choose to live as children of light! It is a NEW day and we say KINGDOM COME your will be done in my house and in my school and in my city.
