Day 50 – Jubilee

50 in the Bible symbolizes a time of great freedom and blessing.  In the Old Testament, every 50^th year was known as the year of Jubilee.  It was a time of liberty when all those who, because of poverty, had sold themselves as slaves were set completely free.  It was a way that God reminded the Jewish people that they were all brothers and citizens of a kingdom with only one ruler: God Himself.  They owed their lives to Him alone and were subject above all to His sovereign will. 

Jubilee was also a time of restitution of all property back to its hereditary owners.  If someone had bought land during the 50-year period it automatically reverted back to the original owners at Jubilee.  This was a prophetic symbol of the future restoration of all things through Christ.

Finally, the year of Jubilee was a time of rest and of a simple life founded fully on trusting the Lord.  People were forbidden to farm their fields but were commanded to rest and live off whatever the land produced on its own.  It was a very real picture that man living not by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.  Their lives in the year of Jubilee depended on the commanded blessing of God.

On this, the Jubilee day of the consecration call, it is time to bring closure to what was so that what is new may be opened to us.  We declare that Christ has set us free from the cycles of death and bondage and shame that we might now advance forward in faith to see the Kingdom of God established as we possess our inheritance in the Promised Land.

As the consecration call team prayed about this day, we felt the Lord spoke to us to give everyone who has participated in the call the opportunity to sow into this call.  The principle of sowing and reaping is an amazing, powerful law of the Kingdom of God. God instituted this law of seedtime and harvest in the very beginning of creation (Genesis 8:22) and it is foundational to the way the Kingdom is meant to operate.   

In his second letter to the Corinthians Paul taught much about the importance and power of the grace of giving.

Giving is grace as important to believers as faith and love - But just as you excel in everything-in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us-see that you also excel in this grace of giving. 2 Corinthians 8:7

Willingness is more important than the size of the gift - For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not have. 2 Corinthians 8:12

Giving is how God takes care of His family -  Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality,  as it is written: "He who gathered much did not have too much, and he who gathered little did not have too little."   2 Corinthians 8:13-15

Our giving can provoke others to “love and good works” - For I know your eagerness to help, and I have been boasting about it to the Macedonians, telling them that since last year you in Achaia were ready to give; and your enthusiasm has stirred most of them to action.  2 Corinthians 9:2

Sowing is how the economy of the kingdom works – Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 2 Corinthians 9:6

Joy is key to giving   Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7

Kingdom economy means sowing produces abundance for our needs and overflow that we might live in generosity, giving to every good work.  And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work… Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. 2 Corinthians 9:8-11

Giving serves the body and results in an increase of praise and thankfulness flowing to God - This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you.  Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!  2 Corinthians 9:12-15

This consecration call has drawn on the gifts of many people.  The core communications team of 10 people has joyfully sacrificed their summer with their family and friends to work on this call.  Some worked as much as 100 hours per week to produce the daily communications as well as the video and audio downloads. Twice weekly the children have received rich teaching that has kept them walking on the same journey as their parents.  And every single communication has been translated and released in French. 

In addition many more people have contributed their discernment, teaching, wisdom, and the revelation that the Lord has given them at various times and in various ways.  The musicians whose music you have enjoyed have given this music freely without any expectation of compensation.  Even with all the gifts of time and energy, still the costs to Watchmen to produce this call are in excess of $60,000. 

We ask on this Jubilee of the consecration call that each of you take time today to consider what you have received during this call and to ask the Lord what He is wants you to do to honour those who have laboured to bless you and to further the work of Watchmen in establishing the Kingdom.
